If you don’t hold your bachelor party in Las Vegas, is it even a bachelor party? The most time-honored place to celebrate—and misbehave before—your coming union does bachelor parties like no other city.
Naturally, you’ll have your preconceptions about a Vegas bachelor party. After all, virtually every notorious stag week you’ve ever seen in the movies—think “The Hangover” 1 and 2, “Very Bad Things,” “Bachelor Party Vegas,” “Last Vegas”—takes place here.
You likely envision a week of strip clubs, alcohol-fueled hijinks, major gambling losses, and eating your weight in steak—all of which are completely legitimate ways of spending your time. But Vegas also offers a lot of other activities to do with your guy friends, from betting at the newest and largest sportsbook in the world to throwing axes. Read on for our top tips and the best places to celebrate.
Where to Stay
Nearly every hotel in Las Vegas has events people who are dedicated to bachelor and bachelorette party experiences. You can go the DIY route and simply book multiple rooms and make a bunch of reservations, but depending on the size of your party, we recommend calling the group sales department.
- Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: Cosmopolitan has some great rooms for creating a bachelor room home base, such as suites with wraparound terraces and fountain views, or a three-floor bungalow, with floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook Marquee Dayclub Pool. With its great mix of restaurants like Blue Ribbon, STK, Holsteins (for boozy milkshakes and killer burgers), and Scarpetta; as well as great bars like the mezcal and tequila bar Ghost Donkey, the wacky supper club Rose.Rabbit.Lie; and of course great nightlife options (Marquee, The Chelsea), Cosmopolitan is a no-brainer. Call up their “Celebration Sales” department to arrange a few extras and don’t miss a few cocktails while getting a fresh haircut at The Barbershop.
- Palazzo at the Venetian Resort: The rooms at the Palazzo are huge (all suites, at a minimum of 720 square feet), but if you’re springing for an over-the-top bachelor party, consider their Chairman, Presidential, and Penthouse Suites, which are now available to the public to book, and come with three and four bedrooms, massive outdoor terraces with Jacuzzis and 180-degree views, fitness equipment, theaters, and more. The resort, which is part of the Venetian complex, is also one of the best resorts for an all-in-one experience in a central location. The dining options are some of the most varied on the Strip, so you can splurge at Bouchon, Majordomo Meat & Fish, Delmonico, and CUT, but not feel like every meal has to be a major blowout since there are plenty of casual and takeout options, too. The resort’s lounges—The Dorsey, Rosina, and Electra—are some of the most sophisticated on the Strip, and there’s arguably not a club in Las Vegas that caters to bachelor parties better than the long-running TAO.
- Aria Resort & Casino: Another great resort option is Aria, whose Sky Villas range from 2,000 to 7,000 square feet and have every high-tech amenity you could possibly want (plus private elevators, butlers, spa rooms, and more). The restaurant collection here is incredible—you’ll want one throw-down red sauce meal at Carbone—and for those who want a little downtime, the Spa at Aria is well worth a visit (look for the salt room and the Ganbanyoku beds—specialty Japanese stone beds that eliminate toxins). Make a visit to the high-limit lounge to take your chances at blackjack and roulette and consider booking one of the five VIP skybox suites in the 24,000-square-foot Jewel Nightclub, which attracts a roster of celebs. From your skybox, you’ll be looking down into the crowd of revelers.
Where to Eat
The obvious dining choice for your group of guys will be at least one of the city’s stellar steakhouses: STK at Cosmopolitan or Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres in Sahara if you love a scene; SW at Wynn Las Vegas if you’re going seriously upscale (and are looking for items like true Kobe beef from one of the few restaurants authorized to sell it); Emeril Lagasse’s Delmonico Steakhouse in Venetian if you love his giant portions and New Orleans-inflected food (don’t miss the Kurobuta bone-in bacon with pickled watermelon rind and root beer glaze); and the old-school cool of Golden Steer, the oldest steakhouse in Vegas.
Consider how much moving around you really want to do between dinner and nightclub. For instance, if you’re planning on ending up at TAO Nightclub, consider calling in advance and arranging dinner at TAO Asian Bistro on the main floor first before a table with bottle service upstairs, so you can skip a line and go straight up in the elevator after dinner. The same idea goes for Hakkasan at MGM Grand: Save yourself the commute and make a reservation for dinner before a night out at the massive nightclub.
Where to Party
The best tip for arranging your bachelor party in Las Vegas is to book your nightlife well in advance. As you might imagine, clubs don’t love large groups of men. Booking in advance will keep you out of lines that might turn your group away for that very reason. We’ll let you decide for yourself whether you’re going to go the strip club route (if you do, the Mexican restaurant, El Dorado Cantina, connected to Sapphire Gentleman’s Club, is a solid choice—and happens to lure a power lunchtime crowd).
- One of the best warm-weather venues for a bachelor group is Drai’s, the rooftop, palm tree-lined pool party at The Cromwell. Book one of its 150 VIP tables and enjoy the night swim parties among eight pools.
- TAO has planned so many bachelor parties, they have a dedicated department to plan them for you.
- Marquee, at Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, is one of the most popular spots for the city’s best DJs. Reserve bottle service or hang in The Library, with its sexy librarian servers.
- The Vegas location of Hakkasan can pack in 3,000 partiers to its dedicated nightclub—which is dedicated to resident super DJs. Calvin Harris, Tiesto, and Steve Aoki have all been residents.
- XS, in Wynn, was the most expensive nightclub to build, and is known for its DJ roster of heavy hitters and its summer night swim parties.
The Best Daytime Activities
If you can mobilize during the day, Vegas has tons of activities that are perfect for guy groups. For instance, now you can combine your love of a pool scene with your love of sports betting at the world’s largest sportsbook, in the brand-new Circa Las Vegas resort downtown. The adults-only casino resort has a three-story stadium with a 78-million-pixel high-def screen and a pool amphitheater called Stadium Swim, where you can catch games on a massive, 14-million-pixel screen and relax at two swim-up bars.
If your thing is speed, book a day at Exotics Racing, the world’s largest supercar driving experience, where you can race more than 50 exotic cars on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Dig This Vegas lets you and your group jump on heavy machinery and roar around an adult sandbox. Think excavators, bulldozers, and skid steers. (Obviously, you’ll want to book this on a day you dedicate to being sober since there’s no drinking and operating this heavy machinery.)
Hopefully, you don’t have any pent-up aggression, but if you do, visit Dueling Axes, an ax-throwing experience in the city’s new AREA 15 entertainment and events complex just west of the Strip. (You’ll get a private ax-throwing coach, plus service from a beer and wine bar).
Finally, book a day (or evening) at Top Golf, the massive, four-level golf, and entertainment complex at MGM Grand, where you can golf, hit the two pools with swim-up bars, VIP cabanas, and hitting bays; a Callaway fitting studio, pro shop, and 120 climate-controlled hitting bays. As with all your bachelor week activities, the best way to plan is to call the events coordinators and plan logistics in advance. In Vegas, there’s no reason to go it alone when there are entire departments dedicated to making you look like a bachelor week-planning hero.
